I've been reviewing mexican food all over arizona this is by far the worst food I've had. I was so excited to try this place because of the excellent reviews. The beans are clearly canned or not made properly. The rice must be bagged. The ground beef taste more like hormel Chile. The "prawns" are just tiny shrimp with the tail left on the sauce on the arroz con prawns is bland. They only give you 3 tortillas. Food was ok. Got the flautas. Chicken not very well seasoned. Rice and Beans just ok. The salsa is not the chunky kind - had a hot sauce flavor to it. It was good, just not my preference. One of our meals and one of our drinks was wrong. Server was nice and corrected the meal. Kind of surprising to get more than one item wrong.
I recently moved from San Diego to AZ and we were looking for a sit down Mexican restaurant that was like our favorite in CA. This place absolutely exceeded our expectations and it’s right around the corner. We have been there 6 times and everything has been amazing. Excellent service, food, and ambiance. Love it! We absolutely love the Mexican shrimp cocktail…. Which I have found hard to beat from my San Diego place. This one actually beats it!
I recently dined at Plaza Bonita Mexican restaurant and had an absolutely fantastic experience! The highlight of my meal was the Mexican Trio, which included shrimp, chicken, and carne asada. Be alert the starter size is for sharing, not for one person at least that’s how I understand 😄 huge portion. The service was great! Although they are busy, but they will take care of everyone with patience and smile. If you stay at Red Feather Lodge, you will get discount 10% to eat at this restaurant.
